The Rudy of the wild bird kingdom, the European starling is nothing less than an underdog miracle story. Only 100 European starlings were released into central park in 1890 and 1891. There are now over 200 million throughout North America, all decedents of these first 100 birds.
They love people and are most comfortable in residential neighborhoods. They will frequent your feeders and particularly enjoy raisins and cracked corn. Be sure to keep the feeder full, as they will just as happily eat garbage if there is nothing else readily available.
