This is a lively little finch. They have a distinctive chirp and are easily recognized at backyard feeders where they arrive during the winter months. They will be bouncing all over and making a general racket. They eat a wide variety of weeds and seeds, and also plant matter. Watch them because they also will eat buds and plant matter, and can be destructive to your garden in large numbers.
