A small drab-gray bird with a long tail, the bushtit can be found from the highlands of Central America throughout the western United States year-round. It prefers mixed-woodland areas and small evergreen shrubs.
The Bushtit is a very social fellow! This bird will show up with a mixed crowd of other species of birds to party in your shrubbery. While his entourage of hangers-on is raiding your feeder, the Bushtit will go to work. He is an expert foliage-stripper, and will help to rid your shrubs of insects and spiders. You will want to invite him back again.
