An infamous “two-timer,” the American redstart is a polygamous bird who often keeps two mates. Unlike other polygamous birds the redstart mates do not share a nest, but rather have their “own places,” up to 500-meters away from one another.
Like others in the warbler family, they primarily are insect eaters, but will also take some small fruits.
